A few weeks ago the people from Cooking Light and Health magazine contacted me to see if I wanted to be a Fit Foodie Ambassador. Amazing food from Austin chefs and a 5k, sign me up! If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you know how much we like to eat and run. Typically not in the same hour but hey I’m not complaining!
As an ambassador, they sent me all kinds of fun presents. Lululemon gifted a fabulous pink yoga mat, SPIbelt sent a great purple race belt (I hear they don’t ride up!), Patrick Goudeau’s workout DVD, the Cooking Light Good Mood Food cookbook and Allison Sweeney’s new novel Scared Scriptless (she kicked off the 5k and signed my book!)
Friday a huge storm came into town and took us from 97 to 60 degrees. It poured but man did we need it. Saturday morning was misty and really cool. Looks like the Chicago weather came with me. It made for a great running environment. The 5k was kicked off by Kevin White, the magazine publisher and Ali Sweeney, best known as the host of the Biggest Loser. After the run was the really fun part! Congress chef David Bull had the best food of the day – Kale, Quinoa and Carrot salad with chickpea dressing. Some of the other goodies included Zico coconut water, Way Better Snacks, Bhatki Chai, lots of local Austin restaurants and a beer garden. And if that wasn’t enough, Ali Sweeney had a meet and greet! She is so beautiful!
Overall this was a fabulous event and would love to represent the Austin food blogger community again next year. The Fit Foodie 5k is also held in Fairfax, VA and San Diego, CA. While a little more than your standard 5k entry fee, they really do a nice job. Anyone else been to one of these events?
